I went on a tour of Bob's possible future apartment in the memory care facility at his apartment complex.
I was very impressed. There is a double entrance where the second door is opened by using a phone to call someone to let you in. Access is 24/7
The main lobby was very nice and cozy. I do not know how many residents live there but it seems like not a lot since they were all in the dining area. His apartment looks exactly like his current one but there is no stove. There is a microwave. There is not bath tub but a large shower. Outside the door is a glass case that you can put objects and memorabilia relating to the person that lives there.
All meds are handled by the staff so we will not need the pill dispenser. Laundry is done by the staff at night on a per resident basis, so there will be no having to label clothes.
They do activities and show movies. They also have doctors that can visit people in their apartments.
Before I he can be moved in, he needs a Tuberculosis test or a chest xray and repeat test annually. He also has to be approved by either ALTCS or his medicaid health care provider (I do not remember which) as to if he really needs memory care.
This morning I got a call from his medicaid health care provider who will give him an assessment.
